Children of War: Supporting Ukraine's 1.5 Million Displaced Children
Over 1.5 million Ukrainian children have been displaced by the war. Our education and psychological support programs are helping them rebuild their futures.
A Generation Under Fire
Ukraine had one of the best education systems in Eastern Europe before the invasion. Today, 6,000 schools have been damaged or destroyed. Over 1.5 million children are displaced — in basements, refugee hostels, foreign countries — with interrupted education and untreated psychological trauma.
What Trauma Looks Like
Psychologists working with our partner NGOs describe children who cannot concentrate, who wake screaming, who refuse to go near windows. A 9-year-old girl in our Lviv program drew the same picture for three weeks: a burning house. Art therapy helped her start drawing flowers again.
Our Education Program
In partnership with Ukrainian Education Ministry and local NGOs, we fund:
- Online learning subscriptions for 4,200 displaced children
- 14 "Education Centers" in evacuation hubs with tablets and internet
- Psychological counseling for 890 children showing trauma symptoms
- School supplies packages distributed to 8,400 children in conflict regions
The Numbers Matter
For every year a child misses school, earning potential decreases by an average of 8-10%. Ukraine's future depends on keeping these children educated and supported. Your $30 donation provides one month of online education access for a displaced child.
